Answers to Your Dental Questions
Insurance & Payment
Do you take my dental insurance?
Yes! We work with most major dental insurance providers, including Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, and many others. Visit /insurance to see a full list of accepted plans, or call us at (512) 858-6987 to confirm your coverage
What options are available if I don’t have dental insurance?
That’s okay. Our Gloss Dental Membership starts at $25 per month and covers cleanings, exams, routine X-rays, along with discounts on additional treatments.
Are payment plans available?
Yes! We offer flexible financing and payment solutions through trusted providers like CareCredit to make care more affordable for qualified patients.
Checkups & Treatments
How frequently should I schedule a dental visit?
Most patients should plan to see the dentist every six months. Catching cavities or gum disease early helps keep care simpler and more affordable, though visit timing may be adjusted based on your individual oral health.
How often should I brush my teeth?
The ADA advises brushing your teeth a minimum of two times daily. After acidic foods or beverages, wait roughly 30 minutes before brushing to help protect enamel.
Electric vs. Manual Toothbrushes: Which One Is Better?
When used correctly, both options work well, though research shows electric toothbrushes tend to remove plaque more effectively. Brands such as Sonicare and Oral-B include features designed to reach hard-to-clean areas and improve daily brushing.
When is the right time for my child’s first dental visit?
Children can begin seeing the dentist around age 3, or as soon as they’re able to comfortably sit for an exam. These early appointments allow us to track growth and encourage healthy dental routines early on.
What steps should I take if I’m experiencing bad breath?
Bad breath commonly results from plaque buildup, gum problems, or bacteria in the mouth. Helpful remedies include professional cleanings, cleaning the tongue, daily flossing with mouthwash, and limiting very spicy foods. If odor continues, it may indicate an underlying concern—please schedule an appointment.
What exactly is a night guard?
A night guard is a transparent, custom-made dental appliance worn over your teeth—usually while sleeping—to help prevent grinding, clenching, and TMJ-related discomfort. It shields teeth from damage and eases jaw strain.
What solutions are available if I have missing teeth?
We provide both permanent solutions like implants and bridges, as well as removable options such as partials and dentures. Fixed treatments offer the closest feel and function to natural teeth, and we’ll guide you based on your oral health and personal goals.
How do dental implants function?
Dental implants are completed in two main stages. First, a titanium post is carefully placed into the jawbone. Once healed, a crown, bridge, or denture is secured on top. The result is a durable tooth replacement that looks, feels, and works like a natural tooth.
How can I tell if I might have gum disease?
Common symptoms may include bleeding during brushing or flossing, persistent bad breath, and teeth that feel loose or sensitive. Because gum disease can advance without obvious pain, regular cleanings and exams are essential for catching it early.
Are dental X-rays safe for patients?
Yes. Today’s digital dental X-rays emit extremely low radiation, often less than what you’re exposed to from everyday sunlight. We adhere to rigorous safety standards and use advanced equipment to safeguard your well-being.
