Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants for Long-Lasting Cavity Defense

Dental sealants offer an easy, reliable way to help protect teeth—especially molars—from cavities. A thin coating is applied to seal out food particles and bacteria from the deep grooves of back teeth. The process is fast, comfortable, and ideal for children and adults with a higher risk of decay. Sealants add extra confidence that your smile has added protection.

Benefits of Dental Sealants

• Helps stop cavities by shielding vulnerable back teeth from decay

• Fast and comfortable, completed in just minutes

• Provides long-term protection that can last for years with good care

• An affordable preventive option that lowers the chance of future fillings

• Suitable for all ages and especially helpful for newly erupted molars in children

Keep Your Smile Healthy

Understanding Dental Sealants

The tooth is first thoroughly cleaned and dried before a conditioning gel is placed to ready the surface. After the gel is washed away, the sealant is brushed into the natural grooves and set with a curing light. Each tooth is completed in just a few minutes.

Even with consistent brushing and flossing, the deep crevices of back teeth can be hard to reach. Sealants add extra protection in these areas, helping lower the risk of cavities.

Dental sealants often last for years, but they should be evaluated at regular checkups. Reapplication may be recommended every 2–5 years based on normal wear. Signs to watch for include:

  • A sealant that appears chipped or worn
  • Sensitivity developing in back teeth
  • Staining or early decay becoming visible
  • Newly erupted permanent molars in children
  • A personal history of recurring cavities

We rely on modern resin sealants and fast-curing lights to create a strong bond quickly, providing lasting protection with minimal time in the chair.

FAQ

Have Questions? You’re in the Right Place

Are dental sealants just meant for children?

Not at all—although sealants are commonly suggested for kids, adults with a higher risk of cavities can also gain protection.

No. Sealant placement is pain-free and doesn’t involve drilling or numbing.

Sealants usually remain effective for 2–5 years and may last longer with proper care.

Many dental insurance plans include sealant coverage for children, with some also covering adults.

Sealants work best on teeth that are free of decay, and any existing cavities need to be addressed before placement.
